* New DVD duplication equipment for next data update cycle
effective 22 November
Our last update had multiple read problems, causing delays, many
support issues, and reshipments of media. Our new duplication
equipment will permit us to check all outbound disks for
validity prior to shipping, far beyond the test samplings we
previously performed. We use the best media possible. We
strive to send the easiest to use products. This
additional step will ensure that the error count is much lower
making your updates faster.

We have a new member of the FlightPrep
Family
On October 29th, FlightPrep staff member Ross Neher &
his wife Nicole welcomed son Grafton into their family. They are
all doing well and looking forward to his first airport visit
and flight.
* New Chart Products page shows new data subscriptions
We now offer chart and plate products in any possible
combination! Both Golden Eagle FlightPrep
and ChartCase 2007 series software permit YOU TO CHOOSE your
subscription to meet your exact needs. As part of our new
Internet-based update services, FlightPrep offers coverage in
multiple selections; for the entire country, either by VFR or IFR
coverage, by regions, or right down to individual chart or
approach book. Take a look at the
new web page listing the data products catalog and add the
missing picture to your planning and EFB data needs.
* AOPA works with FlightPrep
FlightPrep was contacted by AOPA regarding an invalid airspace
update for the new Phoenix Class B airspace. We determined the
root cause of the problem and fixed the issue right away. As soon as we
completed a review of the fix, we posted new airspace data via
our Internet download capability. Heidi Williams, AOPA Director
Air Traffic Services, agreed that that it is very important that
all pilots ensure they use the most current data. Your
FlightPrep software will automatically alert you when new data
or a program revision is available --IF-- the system is
connected to the Internet at startup. Please take advantage
of this capability! In the event that you cannot connect your
software to the Internet prior to flight planning or in-flight
activities, please view the
www.flightprep.com web site for possible Errata Notices that
we will post on the home page whenever necessary.
* Do you have a
question and want an answer? Call us at 503-678-4360
between 8 and 5 Monday through Friday to speak with anybody
here. We are glad to talk with you whether you are looking for
new software, data subscription services, or maybe you have
technical questions or something just doesn't seem right. Give
us a call or send email to

and we'll help answer your questions and get you on your way to
using our Top-Rated software and data products.

FAA offers EFB Clarification
It is official!
The FAA has removed any concern about the
legality of EFBs in the Part 91 cockpit. Offered as an
extension to a number of prior advisories and "Job Aides"
intended for field inspectors, Advisory Circular 91-78 covers
the subject of Electronic Flight Bag. It defines the meaning of
both an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and an Electronic Chart
Display (ECD). ChartCase software performs BOTH of these
functions. The FAA goes on to recommend that a secondary
source of information be available to the pilot. Most FlightPrep
software users accomplish this by loading their software on a
second portable system. I do not have any paper charts or plates
in my Cardinal. I personally carry an old laptop "just in case."
ALERT:
Software Revision
4.0.8 released 5 November.
This release improves certain drawing routines when your GPS is
connected to your ChartCase software. This update effectively
speeds up screen refreshes. We recommend you download and apply
the new software version when it prompts you.
