of the Month:
Golden Eagle FlightPrep
is used by tens of thousands of pilots.
The current version delivers many new features and current navigation
data. Even though the updates are distributed at no cost, many
pilots have expired data.
Look for [Downloads] on the left side of the home page in the blue
navigation menu box
To download Golden Eagle
FlightPrep files, access the [Downloads] menu and pick either Golden
Eagle FlightPrep -or- Golden Eagle Update.
Be sure to read the
Update Version notice before downloading!

News from
Aurora, Oregon.
* Greetings from Aurora. We're getting an early spring
in Oregon with great flying weather. We've hosted some new
customers visiting us here at our airport office and leaving
with ChartCase EFB packages. We've gotten the opportunity
to see their very pretty airplanes. From the prospective
of pilots writing software, everybody is happy with this
arrangement.
* We
are very busy moving to new web server architecture and
hardware. This is intended to further improve performance and
reduce wait time between screen refreshes. Most of the change
will be "behind the scenes" and not directly visible. This
change paves the way for upcoming changes to the appearance of
the online planner scheduled for later this summer.
* We just completed a photo-shoot for our next
AOPA magazine advertisement. Ross is a lucky guy; he got
to sit in the left seat of some very nice aircraft, namely an
Hawker 800XP and a Piper Meridian graciously provided by
Aurora
Aviation and
North West Aircraft respectively.
* "Since you asked for it":
Lower prices on our Motion Computing tablet systems. Due
to price drops from the manufacturer, we've lowered the price of

ChartCase Professional
2006 added so many new features and capabilities, it is a whole new program offering. We are including all this
new functionality into the program, making Aviation Consumer's
"Top Pick" EFB software even better.
All current
ChartCase Professional subscribers received a package in the
April update. We want to say "Thank you" for your
support by giving you a New User Software Package. The box
includes both Professional 2006 software DVDs, a Tutorial disc,
as well as our new Instruction Guide. We're pleased with

rolls out the InFlight feature as a result of your requests and
suggestions combined with our many years of aviation software
development. NASA calls this capability "Synthetic Vision"
and now you can have it in your cockpit. Miles ahead of
some the so-called "state-of-the-art" panel mount GPS units, the
InFlight feature lets you define your own page layouts and
switch between modes with 2 clicks of a mouse or taps of a
stylus.

ChartCase Professional 2006 features improved
help. This feature will answer most of your questions that
previously required a call or email to
Technical Support. The new [Help] has
many screen shots embedded into this "Electronic Manual."
When you use [Help] to check for answers, you'll find answers
easily and quickly.

Installation/ Initial Setup and Use Guide printed manual show
at Sun N Fun 2006.

in the Jan. 2006 issue of
The Aviation Consumer.
We licensed this article and now you can
read the entire reprint for free. Aviation Consumer reviewed all the popular EFB software systems and ranked
them on a scale of ease of use, features, and value for the
money. "FlightPrep ChartCase is our Top Pick" they
proclaimed on the front page! The article features a few
tables listing features and competitive products in the
marketplace. They also provide their opinion of how they
scored each product.

Reminder: Before each flight, you pre-flight
your aircraft. When something comes up, you probably try to
arrange maintenance to fit into your busy schedule. We recommend
you take the same approach to installing your software updates.
Plan to install them as soon as they arrive. You will spend
more time using the most current product and have a smaller
chance of any unexpected glitch interrupting the use of your
software. |

We received some questions from Golden Eagle Plus customers
after they installed their recent updates. The update
process never used Disk 3 during the update process.
This is normal during this update. To explain, the disks
we provide permit installing the update set as a new
installation. This permits you to perform a new install from
any update set in the event you want to perform a reinstallation
or to load the program to a new computer or hard disk.
As a result of this complete system delivery, certain updates
may not require all the files delivered on the disks if the
update disks
contain files that are still current. We

Motion
Computing now is shipping the new extended life battery for the LS800.
The new battery has an extra row of cells that effectively
doubles the run-time. We are taking

RAM Mounts
delivered their long-awaited Motion Computing mounting
solutions. We sold out of the LS800 mounts almost immediately at
Sun N Fun and only had our demo left on the last day. Pricing
for the LS800 mount (including the yoke clamp) is about $68.00.

Motion
released Version A06 of the LE1600 BIOS. The A06
BIOS fixes issues with external battery charging rates as well
as hard disk password use during BIOS flash operations. If
you use an external battery on your LE1600, be sure to
visit the Motion web site to download and apply this update.
Motion
released Version A07 of the LS800 BIOS. The A07 BIOS sets
a more aggressive thermal management profile for the LS800. This
will reduce or
eliminate thermal shutdowns during the imaging process and other
periods of high processor utilization. We
recommend ALL LS800 users apply this important update.
