Motion Computing announced a
$200 rollback in the pricing of their LE1600 Celeron models.
We sell Centrino models almost exclusively. However, some
pilots feel the price savings for the Celeron model is enough to
justify making a tablet system purchase. If you'd like a
custom quote for a Celeron LE1600 just give Audrie a call
(503)678-4360 and she'll run some numbers for you.
* We have great
news for LE1600 owners. Motion Computing announced they
will offer a snap-on cover like the M1400 series featured.
Availability is expected to be around the end of November for
$34.95. Just like the M1400 snap-shield, it clips onto the
front of the system to protect the glass display AND it snaps
onto the back side for storage with or without the optional
battery pack. The price is low enough you can buy 2
covers; install a mounting adapter to one and leave it in the
airplane. Use the second one to protect your LE1600 inside
your brief case or flight bag.
*
RAM Mounts announced a new LS-800 mounting bracket. The
bracket is actually a "mini-dock" that provides a single point
to connect all the cables you may be using in your aircraft
including power, USB connectors, and for the big iron guys even
a RJ45 Ethernet network connector. It supports all their
standard bases and accessories.

ChartCase Version 3 Release Candidate 2 Previews
The charts and data for the 24 November 2005 update are in your
hands. Part of this release includes an update to the preview for the new Version 3 product, featuring the
InFlight display mode now available in the {View] menu. This
entirely new display allows easy switching between the most
commonly used chart types and functions used while underway
aloft. We designed an innovative method for selecting
which screens you want to view. Even better, you can
define which data is available on each display page.
Combine TAWS with a simulated instrument panel? Sure!
Perhaps you'd like the Sectional chart combined with LandSAT
photo imagery for the ultimate help in unfamiliar areas.
No problem, just click the [Configure Page] button and define
your own pages. The InFlight function also offers large,
easy to access, easy to read control buttons. Give the new
program a shakedown after loading the new update and get
familiar with all the new capabilities of
ChartCase Professional.
Some users report the tips in
the new help file additions are getting them off to a flying
start as they preview the new Release Candidate. It is
simple to download using the [Internet] tab in your ChartCase
software and selecting the Feedback/ Bugs QuickLink in the left
side frame control. Just create an account and download
the help file from the Bulletin Listings on the main page.
Reminder: Before each flight, you pre-flight
your aircraft. When something comes up, you probably try to
schedule maintenance to fit into your schedule. We recommend
you take the same approach to installing your software updates.
Plan to install them as soon as they arrive. You will spend
more time using the most current product and have a smaller
chance of any unexpected glitch interrupting the use of your
software. |

Youngest pilot around?
Parker Henderson may just be the youngest pilot in the United
States. The teen celebrated his 14th birthday on Oct. 10 by
making his first solo flight in a Schweizer 2-33 sailplane.
Henderson, who lives in Laguna Niguel, Calif., started taking
flying lessons shortly after his 13th birthday at Hemet-Ryan
Airport, which just happens to be the same airport at which
aviation legend Chuck Yeager learned to fly at during World War
II.
