New Page 3FlightPrep Applications and Windows Vista CompatibilityMicrosoft's operating system Windows Vista introduced a new user interface, new security enchantments, and a program called User Access Control (UAC) to help protect users from viruses, mal-ware, spy-ware, and to keep network users from changing or installing files or programs. As a result some special settings are needed in order for FlightPrep applications to be fully utilized under Windows Vista. Please follow these steps below to properly setup up GoldenEagle and ChartCase to run under Windows Vista. Windows 7 Users: Please note these changes are NOT required for Windows 7. Download and install the latest version of GoldenEagle FlightPrep or ChartCase.
GoldenEagle FlightPrep (Approx 30MB)
ChartCase (Approx 30MB) After the software has been installed, right click on the Desktop shortcut for the FlightPrep software you installed, and select Properties. 
In the Properties dialog, select Compatibility, then set the following settings Under the Compatibility mode section, select Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Under the Privilege Level section, select Run this program as administrator. Select OK to confirm your selections and close the Properties dialog.

Double click on the GoldenEagle by FlightPrep or ChartCase shortcut to launch the application. When the application launches, you will be asked to confirm access to your computer. Select Allow to run the application. 
If you will be using XM Weather in ChartCase software please repeat steps 2 - 4 using the Desktop or Start Menu icon for XMLink How to Turn off User Access Control (UAC): FlightPrep Suggests that you turn OFF your User Access Control (UAC) Feature in Windows Vista due to the constant pop ups and memory resources that the UAC creates and consumes. To Turn off the UAC: Please go into Control Panel, Select [User Accounts], Select your User Name, One of the options under your user name is to turn off UAC. Once you have turned off UAC you MUST reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
