FlightPrep Applications and Windows Vista, 7, 8 Compatibility

Microsoft's latest operating systems introduced a new user interface, new security enchantments, and a program called User Access Control (UAC) to help protect users from viruses, mal-ware, spy-ware, and to keep network users from changing or installing files or programs. As a result some special settings are needed in order for FlightPrep applications to be fully utilized. Please follow these steps below to properly setup up Golden Eagle and ChartCase to run under Windows Vista, 7, or 8.
  1. After the software has been installed, right click on the Desktop shortcut for the FlightPrep software you installed, and select Properties.
  2. In the Properties dialog, select Compatibility, Under the Privilege Level section, select Run this program as administrator. Select OK to confirm your selections and close the Properties dialog.
  3. Double click on the Golden Eagle by FlightPrep or ChartCase shortcut to launch the application. When the application launches, you may be asked to confirm access to your computer. Select Allow to run the application.
  4. If you will be using XM Weather in ChartCase software please repeat steps 2 - 4 using the Desktop or Start Menu icon for XMLink
How to Turn off User Access Control (UAC): FlightPrep suggests that you turn OFF your User Access Control (UAC) Feature in Windows Vista, 7, and 8 due to the constant pop ups and memory resources that the UAC creates and consumes. To Turn off the UAC: Please go into Control Panel, Select [User Accounts], Select your User Name, One of the options under your user name is to turn off UAC. Once you have turned off UAC you MUST reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
